Synopsis of our training and development of Company Car Drivers

Introduction

Quite simply we want to reduce your driver’s risk of having a collision.We also include an element of eco-safe driving that will reduce environmental impacts and fuel costs.

As well as meeting your company’s legal obligations, this will benefit your business by reducing costs and admin, as well improving efficiency.

The Course

We can customize the course to meet any of your specific requirements.  Most courses last a full day, beginning with a morning’s inter-active training in the classroom.  This is followed up in the afternoon with practical training and development in the car. As an add-on or an alternative, our trainer can accompany your employees whilst they are driving at work.

All delegates will receive balanced feedback, along with a written Action Plan that identifies the driver’s risk profile.

Our Trainers

All our professional trainers have undertaken specialist training and are fully qualified to coach qualified drivers.  They also have to meet our rigorous quality assurance requirements.

We will provide each trainer with a bespoke briefing of your company’s needs and requirements.  At the end of the session, the trainer will be available to discuss any further details or information you need.

Your Drivers

Before getting behind the wheel, we will check each driver’s licence and run through some basic maintenance checks on the vehicle they use for their routine work.

Two drivers can be taken out together, alternating the time spent driving equally on the types of road they normally use for work.  We will build on each driver’s experience and existing skills to reduce the risk of them being involved in a blameworthy collision.

1. Why do Company Car Drivers need training?

It’s the law.  The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 requires all employers to ensure, so far as reasonably possible, the health and safety of their employees.  Also, under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, employers have a responsibility to manage health and safety effectively.

This means that anyone who drives on company related business, such as a salesperson, manager, delivery driver or service engineer needs to have their driving ability “risk assessed” periodically.

2. How does this benefit employers?

A practical driving assessment followed by development will reduce the collision risk and therefore help to keep business costs down.  Driver development can also lead to fuel, vehicle maintenance and insurance cost savings.

Not only are vehicle collisions are expensive, they also cause considerable interruption to business and can also impact on customer service.  Safer drivers are better drivers who are more likely to adopt a driving style that enhances corporate image.  They are also move likely to enjoy their driving and find this work less stressful.
